Fan at AT&T Park will think twice about trying to elude security next time.
The security staff brought the guy down hard, even if no one thought to bodyslam him.
Obviously his behavior merited the type of restraint cops usually reserve for violent criminals. I mean, hey, the guy ran onto the field at a baseball game.
For his efforts, the guy got a knee to the back of the neck and a face full of dirt. He’ll likely wind up with at least a fine and a stern talking-to, as well. But hey, someday he’ll be able to tell his grandkids about the time he got real drunk, disrupted a baseball game and caught a beatdown from stadium security guards. And you can’t put a price tag on a story like that one.
But both the fan’s effort and the security team’s response pale in comparison to the standard-bearer for fan-on-field incidents. In May 2010, a Philadelphia Phillies fan eluded security guards on the field at Citizen’s Bank Park until they took him down with a taser gun.
